Family and fairness

Use wallets and house rules

Keep household expectations and reward balances understandable, private, and age appropriate.

Write understandable rules

Use short, concrete language and explain why the rule matters. Review rules with the household rather than relying on the app as the only explanation.

Understand wallet balances

Wallet total is the signed Tidyboard reward ledger balance. Earmarking funds for goals does not reduce total; it reduces available funds so the same rewards cannot be spent twice. Purchase approval consumes both wallet funds and the matching goal earmark. Cancelling a saving or funded goal releases its remaining earmark without reducing wallet total.

Know the no-bank boundary

Tidyboard does not connect to banks, store bank credentials, reconcile statements, verify cash, or provide a complete household accounting ledger. External source labels such as “Grandma and Grandpa” are descriptive text only. Treat wallet amounts as household reward records, not verified bank balances.

Protect financial details

Treat balances, reward settings, and hourly-rate ranges as private household information. Rate details are limited to the rate owner or a household owner or administrator. Finance tools expose safe display names and domain UUIDs, never account IDs, Cognito subjects, household IDs, or hourly-rate ranges.
